Only one month ago we reported on a case of dissociative identity disorder which caused Visual Kei band Lustknot. to go on hiatus. Today a similar shocking announcement appeared on the website of Visual Kei band D.I.D.: the band will go on indefinite hiatus. But even though that news alone is quite sad the reason makes it even sadder: vocalist Akane suffers from bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and can't continue band activities.
Fans that were keeping an eye on his blog and twitter in the past knew that he suffers from depression but now that he was hospitalized everyone gets an idea how serious his mental disease is. Akane is in contact with his family but not with his band members. Since he was brought to hospital they weren't allowed to meet him but Akane's family keeps them updated on the vocalist's condition.
D.I.D.'s bassist Sho tweeted some pictures today that show a message written on a sheet of paper you can see below. It's a message written in hospital by Akane to his fans. Taking a look at this sheet the impression of him writing lyrics might come up. The sentences are very emotional, so he stated for example that he has been saved by you and that he has gained hope again. But then, hope also brings despair along and there are many questions written that nobody can answer. Questions about feelings and the world in general.
Sho stated that thanks to all their fans Akane has changed. His view on the world and the words he's writing are different from what they were some time ago.
D.I.D. will continue with its live schedule until August - but without Akane due to these circumstances - and will go on indefinite hiatus then. Unfortunately the recordings of the band's upcoming single "Fatal Error Race" couldn't be completed before Akane went to hospital which results in the cancellation of the release.
We wish the members all the best and hope that Akane will find the strength he needs and get better soon.
